EDWIN MATTERN, JR.
Edwin Clarence Mattern Jr., 93, of St. Clairsville, formerly of Martins Ferry, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, in Park Health. He was born on June 28, 1930, in Bridgeport, a son of the late Edwin C. and Angela (O’Leary) Mattern Sr. Edwin retired after many years of service from Ogden News Papers, served his country in the U.S. Navy during Korea, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, the V.F.W. 4811 Yorkville, IOLA Club, Cave Club, WV Snake Club, and the Warwood Vets.
He is survived by two sons, Edwin William Mattern and John Robert (Bonnie) Mattern; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret (Kleinedler) Mattern; a daughter, Rebecca Sue Mattern; two brothers; and a sister.
Friends may call Friday, February 23 from 10 am to 12 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside. A memorial service will be held Friday at 12 pm in the funeral home with Father Thomas Chillog officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. Military honors provided by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
