JAMES “JIM” McCULLEY

James ‘Jim’ Harold McCulley, 91, of Shadyside, OH passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 in Waynesburg, PA.

He was born August 14, 1932 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Helen Kobet and Harold McCulley.

Jim was a graduate of Wheeling Central High School, Class of 1951. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Gilbert Islands during the Korean War. Following discharge, Jim dedicated 36 years of his career as a Pot Man at Ormet until his retirement in 1995. He was a past commander of the Belmont County Council of the American Legion, past president of Ormet Retirees Club-Local 5724, a member of Wheeling AARP and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 521, as well as the VFW Post 626. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Lee McCulley and sister, Sharon A. Stern.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Carol McCulley of Shadyside, OH; his daughter, Kimberly (Stephen) Brunner of Columbus, OH; son, Kevin (Jody) McCulley of Uniontown, OH; step-son James (Adele) Armstrong; brother Ron (Diane) McCulley of Bellaire, OH; sister, Frances Bartolowitz of Pittsburgh, PA; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, OH 43947 on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00am with full military honors conducted prior to the service. Interment to follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, OH.
