JOHN SEMPKOWSKI
John Henry Sempkowski, 68, of Rayland, Ohio passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
He was born July 2, 1955 a son of the late Thomas Maynard Cominsky and surviving mother, Ida (Hayman) Cominsky.
He was a proud Coal Miner and Fire Boss at various Coal Mines, concluding his dedicated career at Tunnel Ridge.
Throughout his life, John exemplified the virtues of hard work and dedication. Known for his strong work ethic, he found fulfillment in his roles within the mining industry. He was respected by his colleagues and cherished by his family as the best father and a great man.
In his leisure time, John found solace in the great outdoors, enjoying the thrill of the hunt and the tranquility of fishing. His love for nature and the simplicity it offered brought him much joy throughout his life. He was known for his craftsmanship and passion for woodworking. He dedicated much of his life to honing his skills in creating beautiful pieces from wood, leaving behind a legacy of artistry that will long be remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Sempkowski, mother, Ida Cominsky, daughters, Johnette “Nik” (Mike) Papp, Janna (Ryan) Schorr, step-children, Stormie Snider, Alex Blakely, Ethan Horvath, siblings, Tom “Ding” (Tammy) Cominsky, Tammy (Butch) Kotera, Donald (Betty) Sempkowski, Scott (Amanda) Cominsky, Curtis Sempkowski, grand- children, Ian Schorr, Mason Walton, Winston Lightener, and animals, Niko, Marvin, Buttons, CiCi, Annie and Moo.
Per John’s wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be a celebration of John’s life in the summer.
