WILLIAM “BILL” MEYERS

William Lawrence “Bill” Meyers, 97, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Bridgeport, OH.

He was born November 18, 1926, a son of the late William and Mary Ellen (Truax) Meyers. Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and of the Martins Ferry Athletic Boosters. In his earlier years, Bill worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel before transitioning to become a teacher for Martins Ferry and Jefferson County Vocational Schools, where he taught machine trades. He coached golf for Martins Ferry High School and was an avid player himself. Bill took pride in his gardening and landscaping work that he did at his home. He is well known for his videography work that he did for over 50 years with Martins Ferry High School Football team. But above everything, his family was his greatest joy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two siblings, Robert F. Meyers and Mary Lou Meyers Andrich.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, of 76 years, Mary (Peyton) Meyers; two children, Bill Meyers and Mary Jo (Ed) Jepson; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
