PATRICIA PADYJASEK

Patricia Frances Padyjasek, “Tia,” 87, of Shadyside, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at WVU Wheeling Hospital.

She was born September 24, 1936, at Bellaire Hospital, a daughter of the late Peter and Frances (nee Pronyszn) Stemkowski of Shadyside, Ohio.

While growing up, she helped her father deliver milk from the Pete Stemkowski Dairy to Shadyside and Bellaire homes until 1956. Prior to marrying her late husband, Joseph on October 5, 1957, she was an employee of the Nickles Bakery Sweet Roll Shop, Martins Ferry Division.

She met her husband on the front porch of her best friend Georgene (nee Marling) Carpino’s parents. Patricia and Joseph made their own home on Daisy Run, West 39th Street, just three blocks from where they met. At this time, Patricia was a housewife and mom, both roles she took seriously.

In 2010, Joseph and Patricia moved into Peter’s and John’s (their sons) home, just one block from where they met.

Patricia was the mother of four children, Carla (Lawrence) Tedeschi of Westerville, Peter Padyjasek of Shadyside, Erin Elizabeth Padyjasek (deceased), and John Padyjasek of Shadyside. Patricia had great pride in her children and their accomplishments just as she was also extremely proud to be “Granny” to her two grandchildren, Carissa Tedeschi and Christopher Tedeschi.

Patricia was preceded in death by her siblings: Stella (Stanley) Galownia, Joseph (Betty June) Stemkowski, Charles “Carl” Stemkowski, Amelia “Milla” Stemkowski, Edna (Ted) Roth, Anthony (Chloris) Stemkowski, and Elizabeth (Henry) Biela.

Patricia was a life-long resident of Shadyside, volunteered in her children’s activities, and avidly supported the SHS Tigers. She was active in her Church, St. Mary’s Shadyside, by participating in the CWC, volunteering at Church festivals, and under Father Paul Welton’s administration, managing the post-funeral resurrection dinners.

Patricia was an enthusiastic Polka fan and promoter. She was an 83-year member of the Polish National Alliance, Chicago. She also held a lifetime member status for the following organizations: Cleveland Polka Association; the Polish Women’s Alliance, Cleveland; and the CSA Lodge Chicago. Patricia was a great polka dancer and you would always see her dancing if polka music was playing.

Besides polka dancing, Patricia was an excellent cook of Polish ethnic foods and a great baker. No one ever left her home hungry.

Patricia was the last survivor of all her first cousins who were first-generation USA-born.

Patricia is survived by her children: Carla (Lawrence) Tedeschi of Westerville, sons Peter Padyjasek and John Padyjasek of Shadyside, granddaughter Carissa Tedeschi, grandson Christopher Tedeschi, and many nieces, nephews, and their families. She is survived by her best friend of 79 years, Georgene (nee Marling) Carpino and her baby miniature schnauzer, Glennon.

Special thanks and great appreciation go to Advantage Home Health nurse aide, Rose Pugh, whose care, friendship, and help for Patricia’s care was priceless.

Special thanks to WVU Wheeling Hospital staff and her doctors for their great care of Patricia.
