ANTOINETTE GRANT

Antoinette (Nettie) Mantica Grant left this earthly existence on February 19th, 2024, in Naples Florida. She lived most of her life in Ohio, in the Steubenville and Tiltonsville areas.

She was born in Steubenville on December 14th, 1929. She graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School, received her B.A. from The College of Steubenville and did her graduate work at Kent State University, W.V. University and the University of Dayton.

Mrs. Grant was an educator and spent most of her career teaching for The Buckeye Local Schools, serving as Director of the Gifted Program before she retired. She was president of the Buckeye Local Teachers Association and also served as Vice President, President-Elect and on the negotiations committee.

She was a founding member of the National Women’s History Museum; member of the Jefferson County Beautification System Board, serving as president; the Warren Township Beautification Committee as Chairperson; the Warren Township Bicentennial Committee and also on it’s Education and Public Relations Board.

She was a published author and won several awards for her poetry.

During our country’s Bicentennial Celebration, she was Director of “The One Hundred Year Time Capsule”, working with the businessmen of Warren Township, her students and the Warren Township Bicentennial Committee. Her school received a Bicentennial Award for the project.

She was involved in projects to restore The Indian Mound and Old Cemetery in Tiltonsville. She also served as Warren Township Park commissioner and on the Park Board.

She belonged to St. Joseph Church in Tiltonsville, serving as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Catechist.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George Dombroski Grant; her parents Dr. Ralph and Rose Linorell Mantica; brothers Dr. John Mantica, Ralph Mantica and Rev. Fr. A. Donald Mantica; and her sisters Connie Horvath and Dorothy Wayte.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters Roseann Boll and Gaytha Grant; Granddaughter Toni Marie Boll; Son-in-Law Ralph Boll and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Nettie and celebrate her life on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 1 pm until the time of memorial services of 4 pm, at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with Father William Cross.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to the Human Society in Nettie’s name.
