BETTY ANN BROWN

Betty was born on a snowy April 1, 1926 in Flushing, Ohio to Howard and Bertha Fritter Howell into a family of eight children. She married Hunter Biddle Brown of St. Clairsville, Ohio, on July 3, 1946. She was an employee of Ohio Bell Telephone, Switzerland of Ohio School District in Hannibal and several retail businesses in St. Clairsville.

Betty attended the St. Clairsville First Presbyterian Church and was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Powhatan Point.

Betty’s passions in life included her large family, her love of sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, reading, camping and biking with Biddle, and Ohio State football. She nurtured her friends and family with great cooking, vegetables, and flower gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her six siblings; her husband, Hunter Biddle Brown; son, Roger Biddle Brown; son-in-law, Michael A. Zambito; son-in-law, Jack W. Ranttila; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Zambito Knaur and her unborn child.

Surviving are her three children; Joyce Ellen Zambito of Wheeling,WV, Patricia Ann Ranttila of Chicago, IL, Amy Suzanne (Matthew) Hiner of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; eight grandchildren, Christopher Zambito, Mark Zambito, Sarah McEachern, Timothy Ranttila, Annie Ranttila, Emily Hiner, Bennett Hiner, Madeline Hiner; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sue Howell Cooney of Chandler, Arizona.

Family and friends will be received at Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 204 W. Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday, May 15, from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon with Chaplain Michael Rowe officiating. Private graveside at Alexander Cemetery in Albany, Ohio.
