GENEVIEVE HUTKAY
Genevieve “Jennie” Hutkay, 94, of Dillonvale passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024.
She was born June 18, 1929, in Dillonvale, the daughter of the late Leo Bikoski, mother, Bertha (Chadnicka) and stepfather, Frank Nedvasky.
Jennie was a retired assistant manager of Kaufmann’s (Macy’s), a devout Catholic and member of St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church of Dillonvale.
Jennie had quite a portfolio with her career. She was also the manager of the Knights of Columbus bowling alley in Adena, Ohio. And shortly after that she was the manager of the Dillonvale Youth Center.
Jennie was a people person loved by all. She was the president of the Catholic Woman’s Club for many years and still is and was an officer with the Deanery of the Diocese of Steubenville. Jennie dedicated her entire life to her St. Adalbert’s Church and to her family.
She was also member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary VFW as a dedication to her husband Charles who served in World War II.
She was a loving, devoted, passionate wife, mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated love and care to her family. Jennie’s life eternally impacted her family, friends, and community members.
She is now resting with her Lord and savior, and we are thankful to know we will see her again one day. All who knew her were abundantly blessed. Jennie will be known for her kindness, generosity, and love to all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles F. Hutkay; infant daughter, Antionette Hutkay; sisters, Ida Marangos, Helen Krol, Stella Soltis; and brother, Walter “Brandy” Bikoski; step-brothers, Frank Nedveski Jr., Walter Baer; step-sisters, Margaret Melonek, Vera Cusick, Bertha Leonard.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles J. (Mary Lynn) Hutkay, Denise (Kenneth) Howell, all of Dillonvale; grandchildren, Trisha (Josh) Painter, Kenny (Brianne) Howell; great-grandchildren, Madalynn and Maddox Painter, Braxton, Genevieve, and Gabrielle Howell; along with special niece Diann Twardoski, also with many other wonderful nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 3-7 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St., Dillonvale, OH. 43917. Vigil service will be at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion will hold a service at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 39 Smithfield St., Dillonvale, OH 43917 with Fr. William Cross officiating. Burial to follow in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Dillonvale.
The family is very appreciative of Amedisys Hospice for all their assistance in the last two years. They especially are thankful for the heartfelt care and love bestowed by their personal caregiver Vickie Elerick who they will forever cherish.
