WILLIAM BOWMAN II

William E. Bowman (Bill) 62 of Steubenville, OH entered into eternal rest on April 26,2024 at Villa Vista nursing home.

Born in Columbus, the son of the late William and Carol (Hutchinson) Bowman, Bill was a Catholic by faith and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, OH.

At 17, Bill was the rear passenger in an auto accident resulting in him being in a coma for 3 months and partially paralyzed.

Bill spoke to teenagers about the dangers of drinking & driving and reached many people with his life’s story. The Ohio Highway Patrol presented him with an award for his volunteer work spreading the word about the dangers of Drinking & Driving.

Bill was an avid music lover. His favorite group was the Rolling Stones. Bill could be found listening to music or writing in his journals. Bill had the best sense of humor. When you were around him you couldn’t help but smile. He always brought out the best in people.

He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

A special thank you to the kind folks at Villa Vista for their kindness and wonderful care that they gave him. Bill’s expressed desire was to be there with his close friends in his final days.

Surviving family members include his cousins, Donald Sheets of Florida. Paula McDermott, of Wheeling, Jennifer Magyar of Shadyside and David Sheets, Florida.

Friends will be received on Thursday May 2, 2024 from 4 — 7 pm at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311).

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday May 3, 2024 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 212 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, OH with Fr. Tom Chillog as Celebrant.

Interment will follow Mass at Linwood Cemetery, Blaine, OH.
