William Precek, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 22, 2024 at the age of 106 yrs, 10 mos, and 3 days.

Bill was born in Shadyside, the son of Joseph and Apolonie Harriet (Niecova) Precek on July 19, 1917 and resided there his entire life except for his military service during World War II when he was stationed in India and Burma for 2 1/2 years.

Bill was married for 74 years to Olive Mae Carle on June 30, 1942 at the First Christian Church of Shadyside. He worked at Wheeling Steel, Benwood plant and at the Ohio Edison RE Burger plant for many years.

He is survived by sons, Richard (Kathy) of Albuquerque, NM and Randall (Lorraine) of Springfield, OH. Grandchildren: Ian & Joshua of Albuquerque, Megan (Glen) Millican of Columbia, MO, Nicholas (Alexandra) Precek of Centerville, OH and Christopher (Gena) Precek of Springfield; great-grandchildren: Erin Dewing (Hawaii), Morgan Dewing (Minnesota), Ryley and Emily Millican (Utah), and Lylah Mae Precek (Centerville) and Liam Precek (Springfield); as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Precek (16 Feb 1888 – Dec 6, 1968) and Apolonie Harriet (nee Niecova) (1 Jun 1891 – 21 Dec 1979); brothers Joseph Francis Precek (1913-1994) & Karl Precek (1915-1945 died WWII); sisters Bessie Elizabeth Starkey (1920-2002) & Helen Emilie Cook (1928-2011). His wife of 74 years, Olive Mae (nee Carle) who passed away on Oct 13, 2016 at the age of 95.

Bill loved to garden, hunt, fish and play Euchre with his friends. He was a loving father, husband and a good neighbor who loved to see his friends happy and prosperous. Bill loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and his Ohio State Buckeyes. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Family and friends are to be received at the Bauknecht-Alt- meyer Funeral Home 3900 Central Avenue on Tuesday, May 28, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, from 9:30 until time of service at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Powhatan Cemetery with full military honors by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
