LIGE OSTRANDER

Lige William Ostrander, 75, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1949, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late Bernadine L. Johnson Ostrander and Paul Haska Ostrander.

Lige was a retired science teacher from Bellaire High School after 36 years teaching and following retirement he taught at Beallsville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion Post 159 in St. Clairsville. His interests included reading, yardwork, sports and playing with his two grandsons, Luke and Levi. Lige was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Ostrander and a sister, Trudy Putorek.

Lige is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Julie Marks Ostrander; two children, Nathan (Claire) Ostrander of Imperial, Pennsylvania and Sarah (Daniel) Strazzera of Elmont, New York; two grandsons, Luke and Levi Ostrander; five siblings, Victoria Ostrander, Paul (Blanche) Ostrander, Frances (Jim) Wilkinson, Harold (Marsha) Ostrander and Penny Ostrander; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Saturday, June 8th from 2 p.m. until time of Full Military Honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 4 p.m., followed by memorial service, with Rev. Dave St. Aubin officiating.
