SONDRA SUMMERS

Sondra Ann Boyle Summers, 87 of Dillonvale, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024, at Belmont Manor Nursing Home, St. Clairsville, OH.

Sondra Summers was born in Newtown, Ohio on November 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Robert Boyle and Helen Lenno Boyle. Sondra was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Donald Dale Summers, two brothers; Bruce and John Robert Boyle, two sisters; Marlene Tiburzi and Cheryl James. Sondra’s beloved Grandsons Stewart Samuel and Christopher Michael Langford also left this world before her, and we are heartened to believe that they were there to welcome “Grammy” into heaven.

After the loss of her husband of 38 years, she found purpose in serving the Village community by working at the Dillonvale Pharmacy for over 20 years. Her unwavering faith as a lifelong member of St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church shone through in her involvement in the Catholic Women’s club, Mothers’ club and for over 30 years, shared her love of the faith by volunteering as a Catechism teacher. She enjoyed her students so much and always looked forward to her Sunday classes.

Sondra was an avid reader and made weekly treks to the Dillonvale library. She loved “digging in the dirt” and tending to flower gardens. She was enamored with birds and “critters” of all kinds in her yard. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it be a packed house, for a birthday or holiday, filled with raucous laughter, usually at her expense for something funny or silly that she had done in years past or one on one phone calls.

Those left to miss her are her children; Mark Summers of Dillonvale, Michael Summers of Mingo Junction, Cindy (Wil Dawson) Langford of Tiltonsville, Susan (Ken) Neel of Dillonvale, and Dawn (Peter) McDonald of Parrish, Fl. Sondra’s Granddaughters; Hilary (James) Royce, Lindsay (Lauren Harper) Summers and Meghan (Joe Garcia) Neel. Granddaughter in law, Shannon (Steve) Veltri. Great- grandchildren Katlyn (Ethan) Mengelt, Austin Langford and Daniel Divjak.

Friends will be received Friday from 12 – 2 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second Street. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 2 pm in the Funeral Home with Father Thomas Cross officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dillonvale EMS or a charity of choice.
