THOMAS DYER
Thomas (Tom) Dyer, 80, of Powell, OH formerly of Bellaire passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, at his residence.
He was born January 24, 1944, in Bellaire, OH to the late Marcella and Harrison Dyer.
Tom, known for his love of a good wager and the Cleveland Browns (often wondering if they’d ever bring home a championship). He was retired from Chessie System, as a Conductor. When not cheering for the Browns or the Indians, he passionately supported Ohio State Football and his hometown Bellaire Big Reds. In his free time, you’d find Tom at the Bellaire VFW Post 626, Bellaire Eagles 371, or at the Shadyside American Legion Post 52, swapping tales of gridiron glory and having a drink.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Dyer and a brother, Harry Dyer.
Surviving are his children, Quintin Helms, Keeli (Steve) Armstrong, and Thomas (Theresa) Dyer, along with his sisters Judi Zeakes and Jodi Dyer, and grandchildren Kaitlyn, Haley, Lauren, and Cameron as well as nephews and nieces.
To honor his life, family and friends will be received at the graveside service with Bishop Tolliver officiating and full military honors by the Belmont County Veterans Association on July 19, 2024, at 12:30pm in Greenwood Cemetery in Bellaire. There will be a celebration of life immediately following the service at the Bellaire Eagles 371 2407 Belmont Street, Bellaire, OH 43906, where stories of Tom’s epic wins (and occasional losses) will echo until 4pm.
