ELIZABETH LOVE (SCHULTE)
Elizabeth Lee “Betty” Love (Schulte), aged 80, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024. Born on January 14, 1944, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. Schulte and Josephine (Mercurio) Schulte.
Betty was a beacon of knowledge and enthusiasm throughout her life. She began her career as a beloved Spanish teacher at Kiski Area School District, where she was revered for her passion and commitment to her students. She led numerous student trips to Spain and played a vital role in hosting foreign exchange students. After retiring, Betty achieved Master Gardener Certification from Ohio State University. Her love for teaching seamlessly transitioned into her work with the inmates at Belmont Correctional Institution, where she used her skills to significantly better their lives and the community. Betty also helped organize the St. Clairsville Community Garden, including arranging for inmate assistance in its maintenance. Betty was a member of the Word of Truth Church, Jewett, OH.
An aficionado of vintage quilts, fabrics, and clothing, Betty enjoyed attending local farmers’ auctions and was proficient in making and preserving jams and jellies. Her hobbies also included gardening and collecting antiques.
Betty lived a purpose-driven life. She treasured life and made the absolute most out of each day she was given. Her indomitable spirit will live on in all those who knew and loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Love; her brother, Robert L. Schulte; sister-in-law, Kay Love; and her parents. She is survived by her sister, Norma (Schulte) McCuen; sisters-in-law, Janice (Robert) Schulte and Janice (Art) Kunkle; brother-in-law, George Love; nieces, Dana McCuen, Libby Barr, Amelia Kunkle and Erin Schulte; and nephew, James Kunkle.
Betty’s family would like to specially thank the staffs of Valley Hospice and IC Care for their excellent care and compassion during her final days.
Viewing will be at the Care Chapel, St. Clairsville, Ohio from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 28, 2024. A memorial service will immediately follow the viewing. A private burial will be at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the St. Clairsville Public Library or the Belmont County Humane Society in remembrance of Betty’s enduring spirit and impactful life.
