KENNETH GIBSON SR.

Kenneth James Gibson Sr. 82, of Dillonvale, OH passed away Friday, September 20, 2024. He was born December 27, 1941, in Toronto, OH, a son of the late Kenneth D. and Ruth E. (Ammon) Gibson. He is preceded in death by his sisters Donna Swiger and Jackie Cowell.

Kenny graduated from Toronto High School in 1961 and later became a Toronto Police Officer. He then became known as “Cherry Picker” as he worked 34 years as a craneman at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Kenny was an avid sportsman being a lifetime member of the Hopedale Sportsman Club along with enjoying playing pickleball, racquetball, tennis, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed socializing at the Weirton Moose lodge where he was an active member. Some of his favorite activities were riding his Honda Goldwing with the GWRRA, finding treasures to upcycle, and playing dice and cards with loved ones.

Surviving are his wife Shirley Starr – Gibson, children, Kenneth Gibson Jr. (Melissa) of Dayton, Ohio, Robert Gibson of Tallmadge, Ohio, Rose Elson (David) Hamilton and Dillonvale, Ohio, and Cleveland Starr (Jeannie) of Dillonvale, Ohio; a sister Ruth Ann Kaniecki of Empire, Ohio and 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home at 154 Second St. Dillonvale on Saturday September 28, 2024, from 2-6 pm, services will be conducted at 3 pm at the Funeral Home with Fr. William Cross officiating. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life gathering will follow details to be determined.
