RUDOLPH MOKROS

Rudolph Phillip Mokros, 80, originally from Bellaire, passed away at home on September 30, 2024. He was born on June 25, 1944 to the late Rudolph Mokros and Dorothy Koher Baker.

Rudy Mokros, “Pap” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, told the best stories and lived his life on his terms. He loved a good card game, glass of whiskey, and cup of coffee. In his younger years, Rudy hand-painted the Bellaire and Steubenville Bridges and eventually worked at ORMET for 33 years where he was an active member of the union grievance committee, a member of the fire brigade, and worked in the pot room at the time of his retirement. The highway barriers that exist today on Rt 7 between Shadyside and Powhatan were the result of Rudy’s petitioning the State for safety improvements from falling boulders. He was outspoken and not afraid to stand up for what was right. He was the former owner of Frank’s Bar where he cooked up his famous spaghetti sauce his family calls “Dad’s Sauce”. He will be greatly missed.

Rudy loved his family and was preceded in death by his parents and dear grandparents, Phil and Viola Koher; sister Lorraine Mokros.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn (Breeden) Mokros; children, Kim Mokros (Jim Hench), Paula (Malcolm) Webster, Lesley Antonik (Richard Vannelle), Phillip Mokros (Stacey Nixon – Gilli), Melissa Mokros; grandchildren, Courtney, Brandy (Ty), Scotty (Kaycie), Kayla (Eric), Shane (Dina), Allison (Anthony), Selden; great grandchildren, Sydney, Aden, Jaxon, Marley Mae, Clay, Cooper, Andrew, Rosie, Coen and Sasha; sisters, Joyce Mokros – Funk, Sandy (Dick) Landers; brother, Wendell Mokros.
