MARY WAGNER

Mary L. (Payton) Cole Wagner, 79, of Yorkville, OH passed away and went into the House of our Lord to be with her mom, dad, and siblings Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Mary was born February 25, 1945. She was a proud 1963 Graduate of Martins Ferry High School. She was hired in 1974 at the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Yorkville Plant where she met her future husband, Ed Wagner. From 1974 to 1981 Mary never missed a day of work. That ended in 1981 when Ed and Mary were married. She had 34 years of service at Yorkville Plant.

Mary was preceded in death by her mom Wilma Payton, her dad, Charles Payton, sisters, Martha (Sherman) Lyons, Helen (Ed) Bresock, Dorthy (Ed) Conrad, infant sister, Elizabeth Payton, brothers, Harold (Katherine) Payton and infant brother, Ronald Payton.

Mary is survived by her husband Edward Wagner of Yorkville, daughter, Pam (Dan) Kourim of Rayland, sons, Mark Cole of Tiltonsville and Eric (Sarah) Wagner of Strongsville, OH.

Mary has 4 grandchildren, Matt (Kensi) Kourim of Carlyle, PA, Jennifer (Ethan) Kleineke of Mt. Pleasant, Amanda (Michael) Brown of Martins Ferry, Lucas Wagner of Strongsville, OH, 4 great- grandchildren, Harley Kleineke of Mt. Pleasant, Donvan and Davion Riffle of Martins Ferry and Braxton Hall of Martins Ferry, 2 great-grandchildren, Alice and Samuel Riffle of Martins Ferry.

Mary was happiest when she spent precious time with her family and friends. She loved to sew and make crafts of all kinds and travel. Mary saw Mt. Denali in Alaska, the sunset in Key West, the coast of Halifax of Nova Scotia and the white sands of Wikki and danced on Lake Taho and rode horses in Wyoming.

The Wagner family want to thank the nurses from Valley Hospice. Khristine and Chelsea for their compassion and care. We also want to give a special thank you to Nurses Aid Angelica for her straight talk, compassion and caring.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11am with Rev. Rod Kasler officiating. Burial to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
