LARRY TOWNSON
Larry Allen Townson, 74, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 24, 1950, in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late Robert and Mary Irene Bellville Townson Stetz.
Larry had worked at the No. 3 for 15 years and No. 6 Coal Mine as a buggy man where he retired in 2012. He had also worked on the railroad and at the Woodsfield Nursing Home for 14 years. He was a member of the Amity United Methodist Church in Powhatan Point, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepbrother, Joseph Stetz; and his cat Muggy.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Vicky Jayne McGilton Townson; 2 children, Carla Austin and Chris Townson; and 3 grandchildren, Alexandria and Ashitin Austin, and Chayce Townson.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service at Powhatan Cemetery, on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
