ALLEN “AL” KINYO

Allen M. “Al” Kinyo, 84, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Friday May 2, 2025, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville.

Al was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Smithfield, OH, son of the late William and Nellie (Zeroski) Kinyo.

Al worked in the Maintenance Dept. at TIMET-Titanium Metals Plant in Toronto, OH, until his eventual retirement with 43 years of service. He then went to work for J.A.H. Woodworking in Bloomingdale, OH.

Al was a 1958 graduate of Smithfield High School. He loved his family and the great outdoors where he could be found hunting and fishing. Al was also an avid Jimmy Buffett fan who never met a stranger.

Al was a member of 463rd Combat Engineer’s Unit in the US Army Reserves, serving from 1963-1969.

In additions to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his first wife of 28 years, Rose Marie (Guzy) Kinyo who passed away Feb. 7, 1996.

Surviving is his wife, Shirley (Firm) Kinyo, whom he married Aug. 3, 2002; four sons, Doug (Becky) Kinyo of Reading, PA, Scott (Kim) Kinyo and Randy (Sue) Kinyo both of Smithfield and Travis (Jenny) Kinyo of Bluffton, IN; daughter, Nicole (Robb) McDonald of Celebration, FL and son, Troy (Beth) Carter of Sheffield Lake, OH; brother, Bill (Veronica) Kinyo of Smithfield and sister, Sandy (Don) Rakoski of Rayland, OH; 11 grandchildren, Monica and Ethan Kinyo, Tyler and Jacob Domo, Ryan, Josh, and Abbey Kinyo, Madolyn and Bobby McDonald and Drew and Gabe Carter. He also leaves behind his very special friend, John Polverini and his pup, Leo.

Al’s family would like to thank the staff from Valley Hospice for their care and support during his journey, his nurse at his home, Andrea, in the hospice unit, Tera Newbold, nurses, Randy, Emily, Amy, Sarah and their aides.

Visitation will be held on Thursday May 8 from 4 to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will take place on Friday at 10 AM (with additional viewing from 9 AM to 10 AM) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Wintersville. Fr. Michael Gossett will celebrate, and entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville.
