MARY RAPAVI

Mary Rapavi, age 103 of Adena, passed away May 21, 2025. She was born December 21, 1921, in Duncanwood, Ohio, to parents Jacob and Victoria (Kot) Balis.

Mary graduated from Adena High School in 1940. She was a lifelong devoted member of St. Casimir’s Parish and active in the Catholic Women’s Club and the Rosary Society.

Mary enjoyed sitting on her front porch and chatting with her neighbors. She was also an avid reader and liked to play cards, Scrabble and took pride in her flower garden. She also enjoyed listening to Polkas.

Mary was a loving mother and homemaker. She is survived by her daughters: Donna (Al) Jankow, Joyce (Ben “Bob”) Kowalczyk, and Jeanette (Dave) Koleski, as well as her grandchildren: Michael, Danny (Michelle), April (Ken), Tim (Laura), Candy (Dale), Mark (Amy), Scott (Lisa), Sharon (E.J), Rhonda (Kip), Ronnie & Carissa (Charlie), her 28 great-grandchildren, and her 8 great-great-grand children.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, her son Bernard, her daughter Karen Matusik, son-in law Roger Matusik, her sister Stella Malisiak, her brothers Frank and John Balis, grandchildren Mary Ann, Donnie and great granddaughter Meagan.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 4:30 PM and Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Borkoski Funeral Home in Adena. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated by Reverend William Cross on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Adena. Interment will follow at St. Casimir Cemetery.
