RITA JO LINDSAY

Rita Jo Scott Lindsay, 72, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
She was born on July 3, 1952, daughter of the late Edward Scott and Esteline “Esther” Hunnicutt Scott.
Rita was witty, strong-willed, and very independent. She was a retired roller operator and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 132, working for both Ohio Valley Paving and Shelly & Sands. Prior to that, she worked in construction and used those skills to design and build her own home. Rita had an unmistakable laugh, could fix or make anything, was the life of every party, and would see friends everywhere she went. She loved thunderstorms, watching the neighborhood deer, ‘stretching out’ on the couch, and cooking/baking. Rita was ‘Mom’ to two, ‘Granny’ to three, and ‘Reet’ or ‘Rita Jo’ to so many others who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Gary Scott, and many close friends.
Rita is survived by two daughters, Amy (Steph Heller) Lindsay and Chiara Lindsay; two brothers, Eddie (Jackie) Scott and Ty Scott; three grandchildren, Courtney (Jonathan) Droginske, Colby Lindsay, and Kaley (Shadow Gibson) Garloch; three great-grandchildren, Stetson, Sutton, and Maverick; and nieces and nephews, Amber, Sloan, Charity, Little Ty, and Craig.
At Rita’s request, services will not be held. A celebration of her life will take place at the convenience of her family.
Rita’s daughters would like to express sincere gratitude to her caregiver from IC Care, Mary Beth, and Valley Hospice for their loving care and support.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org), Valley Hospice (valleyhospice.org), or the Ohio Valley Brain Ball (event.home- townticketing.com).
