BARBARA McFARLAND

Barbara Ann Stobbs McFarland, 94, died peacefully at home, June 22, 2025 in Granville, Ohio.

Born February 16, 1931 at Brookside, Pease Twp., Belmont County to the late Matthew Henry and Lena Bell Sunderman Stobbs.

A 1948 Graduate of Martins Ferry High School and Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Florida. After high school, her career started at L.S. Good & Co., then on to Wright-Patterson AFB where she met her future husband, Jack. An avid artist, gardener, golfer, genealogist, traveler and lover of classical music, Barbara’s talents also encompassed the business world, becoming a successful real estate broker later in life, after living in many states as an Air Force wife, attending college, and eventually returning to Ohio. A former Deacon and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Granville.

Preceded in death by her husband Col. Jack Boaz McFarland USAF, and her ten brothers and sisters (Emily Lowman, Hester Lash, Hugh Stobbs, Roberta Mitchell, Roy Stobbs, Bayard Stobbs, Donald Stobbs, Leslie Stobbs, Florence Stobbs, and Doris Morrison).

Survived by her daughter Patricia Jane Burns of Ashtabula and Patricia’s children and grandchildren, her son Jonathan Drew McFarland of Granville, granddaughters Lena Ailin Boaz McFarland and Barbara Isabella Dent McFarland, of Granville, as well as many loving nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

There will be no local service; burial to be with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, date presently uncertain. Donations in her name may be made to the Colerain Presbyterian Church,71780 U.S. Route 250, Colerain.
