CARMELO “FRED” DePASQUALE

Carmelo F. “Fred” DePasquale, 82, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at Park Health Center. He was born December 12, 1942, the son of the late Simone and Caterina Leech DePasquale.

He was raised in Martins Ferry, Ohio and upon graduating from Martins Ferry High School, he worked as a machinist for Valley Machine, as a foreman at the Georgetown Machine Shop for Consolidation Coal Co., and he spent many years at Mull Machine, where he retired in 2018. Fred was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Kathleen Perko DePasquale; and brothers, Simone and Larry DePasquale.

Fred is survived by daughters, Kathleen M. Vivod (Bill) of Belmont, Ohio and Kimberly M. Kasler (Michael Baker) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a son, Fredrick M. DePasquale (Justina) of Toronto, Ohio; six grandchildren, Preston DePasquale (Georgena), Brian Vivod (Marissa), Mario Makris (Jen), Anthony DePasquale (Amber), Alessia Vivod and Nick Makris; four great grandchildren, Geno and Vinny DePasquale, Eliana and Marcella Makris; a sister, Vita J. Baran; several nieces and nephews.

Fred cared for his family with great devotion and love. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Park Health and Amedisys Hospice.

“God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be found, so he put his arms around him and whispered, ‘Come with Me’. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we couldn’t make him stay.” Mom and Dad are together again.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11:30 a.m., with Father Thomas Chillog the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home.
