DARRELL CROZIER

Darrell L. Crozier, 89, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, passed peacefully in the early morning hours on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

A retired supervisor with the East Ohio Gas Company, Darrell was also a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a Seventh-day Adventist, and a former Rotarian – his life a testament to quiet service and steady faith. Whether through his career, his spiritual journey, or his community involvement, Darrell believed deeply in giving back and paying things forward.

Darrell found his greatest joy in family gatherings and the comforting rhythm of a baseball game on a summer afternoon. To him, life was a series of pitches. Some wild, some just out of reach, but what mattered most was that you kept swinging. He was always there with quiet encouragement for those closest to him, whether it was a smile or the simple reassurance of: “You’re still swinging for the fences–and I’m still cheering you on.” And though his final inning has come, those of us who knew him best are still in the stands, remembering every swing.

A lifelong lover of nature, Darrell held a special place in his heart for birdwatching and gardening. As a young boy in Clarington, Ohio, he once spotted a rare Ivory-billed woodpecker near a wooded ravine around the family home; a moment captured in the local newspaper and one he cherished throughout his life. In adulthood, he rarely missed an issue of Birds and Blooms magazine and spent countless hours on his back porch watching cardinals, finches, and orioles flit through the yard. He’d call out their names with cheerful authority, as if greeting old friends who stopped by for a visit.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Andrew Crozier and Estella Ellen Swann Crozier, as well as his brother, Paul Crozier Jr.

He is survived by his loving companion, Dreama Pape, of Powhatan Point, his son, Ryan (Kelly) Crozier, of Hartford, Connecticut; and his sister, Pinney (Floyd) Shelton, of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Loving son, brother, father, companion, neighbor, and friend–Darrell brightened the world from the start and will continue to inspire those he loved.

In accordance with Darrell’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
