EDWARD GOLETZ

Edward John “Edziu” Goletz, 81, of Maynard, Ohio died Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Wheeling Hospital. He was born December 4, 1943, in Maynard, Ohio, son of the late Frank and Cecelia Stachyra Goletz.

Ed was a retired railroad clerk, having worked for the Nickle Plate, Penn Central, Conrail and Norfolk Southern. He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Church in Maynard, St. Frances Cabrini Church, Colerain, Maynard PNA Lodge 455, the Maynard Sportsmans Club, the former American Legion Post 666, Maynard, and the former Maynard CVFD. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Ed always enjoyed listening to Polish music, making his famous bread, raising a big garden and canning.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Goletz and wife Marianne; and nephew, Rick “Bubba” Goletz.

Surviving are his loving wife Barbara A. Lippian Goletz; four sons, Joe, Stephen, Matthew and Andrew, all of Maynard; a sister, Jean (Dick) Kanoski of Columbus, Ohio; many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 4-7 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with a Vigil Service at 3:45 pm and a Rosary Service at 6:45 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Chillog as celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
