MARY ELLA SCHAFER
Mary Ella Schafer, 98, of Adena, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Liza’s Place inWheeling, WV. Born to John and Agnes (McDonell) Weaver, she was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, Elliott’s Business College, and Belmont Technical College, and attended West Liberty State University. She retired as Controller and Corporate Secretary of Hitt Supply in Wheeling. In retirement she devoted many years to AARP’s Tax Assistance program.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Roger; grandson, Roger Schafer III; siblings Jack (Dot), Pat (Jim) Bennett, Frank (Maryann), and Fred; and her parents.
Surviving are her children, Kathleen Schafer, Molly (Ted) Williams, Patricia Schafer, Roger Jr. (Beth), John (Ellen), and Rita (Tim) Carroll; brother, Jim (Connie) Weaver; sister-in-law, Sandy Weaver; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited Tuesday, August 19, 2025, to St. Frances Cabrini Church, Colerain: visitation at 10:00 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Fr. Thomas Chillog and Msg. George Coyne as celebrants, followed by burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside assisting the family.
