PAUL “PJ” BALLOG JR.

Paul “PJ” Ballog Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and great- grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at Belmont Manor in St. Clairsville, Ohio, at the age of 81.

He was born on September 26, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana a son to the late Paul and Mamie (Fasulla) Ballog Sr.

PJ graduated from St. Clairsville High School in 1962 where he was an outstanding football player. He went on to play football for the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, showcasing his talent and passion for the game.

PJ worked and retired from Consol Energy and was known as one of the best mechanics. Outside of work, PJ found joy in racing, hunting, fishing, and working in his garage. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

PJ was a proud member of several organizations, including NHRA, IHRA, UMTR, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, PJ was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deborah “Debbie” Ballog, who passed away in 2022, and his brother, William Ballog.

He is survived by his children, Paul (Beth) Ballog III, Stephanie Burgy, and William (Angela) Ballog; grandchildren, Gianna, Isabella, Devin, Miya, and Dio; and six great-grandchildren.

PJ’s life will be celebrated with visitation at Care Funeral Home, 204 W. Main Street in St. Clairsville, Ohio, on Tuesday, September 2, from 5-7 pm. Additional visitation will occur on Wednesday, September 3, from 9 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio, with Father Thomas Chillog as celebrant. Immediate burial will follow at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
