ROGER “PUNKIN” KENNEY

Roger “Punkin” Kenney, 76, of Powhatan Point, Ohio passed away peacefully at his residence.
Born on September 9, 1948, to the late Melvin Palmer and Mary Lee Kenney in Bellaire, Ohio, Punkin lived a life full of dedication, service, and love.
He began his career at Powhatan #4 in 1972, where he gained the respect and friendship of many colleagues. He later retired from McElroy Mine, leaving behind a legacy of 42 years of hard work and commitment to the mine. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was an avid outdoorsman who cherished hunting and fishing.
A proud Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Punkin was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5565 for over 50 years and also attended Beallsville Legion #768. His sense of duty and patriotism was evident in all aspects of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Kenney, who passed on September 14, 2014; and his brother, Walter Lee Kenney. He leaves behind his cherished children, Troy Kenney, Chad Kenney, and Tiffany McCall; grandchildren, Daysha Alexander, Wesley Alexander, and Taneesha Kenney; and three great-grandchildren, who will all carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Friends and family are to be received at the Bauknecht-Alt- meyer Funeral Home 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, where visitation will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. An additional visitation will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, starting at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor William Coker. Burial to follow at Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.
Punkin will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, his love for the great outdoors, and, above all, his deep dedication to his family and country. May he rest in peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.
