WILLIAM “BO” DAVENPORT
William Grover “Bo” Davenport, 83, of Barton, Ohio, died peacefully at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, West Virginia on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was born April 20, 1942, a son of the late William Stewart Davenport and Jacqueline “Jackie” Cain Davenport.
Bo was a 1961 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel’s Mingo Plant and formerly worked for Wheeling Chrysler. He was a member of Faith Church in Pleasant Grove and Living Waters at the Well in Barton and was a member of the Muskie Club at Piney Fork.
You could usually find Bo sitting on his porch listening to his favorite country and gospel music legend, Johnny Cash or some bluegrass music and conversing with family and friends. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, but his true passion was fishing. Some of the other things that brought him joy were watching Gunsmoke and old westerns on TV, gardening and collecting antiques, but most importantly, spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Marie; two brothers- in-law, Charles Baier and Manuel Benitez; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Davenport; and special aunts, Mary, Juanita and Annie.
Bo is survived by his loving wife of61 years, Fannie Jone Murphy Davenport; two children, William “Billy” (Ethelyn) Davenport, II and Elizabeth Davenport; two brothers, James “Jim” Davenport and Gary (Donna) Davenport; three sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Leonard, Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Baier and Grace Davenport; a sister- in-law, Jane Benitez; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Fulton, William Corey Davenport and William Dallas Davenport; 6 great grandchildren, Abigial, Savannah, Benjamin, Armani, Payton and Christian; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. The burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Blaine.
