BEVERLY BARCALOW AMADIO
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Beverly Barcalow Amadio on 11/10/2025 after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gerhig’s disease).
Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on June 4, 1949, to parents Richard and Elda Barcalow, Beverly grew up in Bridgeport, Ohio and graduated from St. John Central HS in Bellaire, Ohio in 1967.
After High School, Beverly worked as a secretary for the State of Ohio Department of Education in St. Clairsville, Ohio for four years while Lou completed college. The two married in 1971 and made their home in Columbus, Ohio, where Beverly continued her career with the Department of Education as an administrative assistant. Her natural curiosity and determination led her to Study computer programming and she went on to build a distinguished 40-year career with the Department of Education, retiring as a Senior Computer Consultant. Even after retirement, her passion for helping others continued as she spent three additional years serving as an Information Technology consultant for a northwest Ohio school district.
Left to cherish her memory is Lou, Beverly’s devoted husband of 54 years, loving son, David (Karen) and adored grandson, Enzo She is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Barcalow and Kathy (Don) Haggerty, nephews Derek and Ryan Haggerty and Chad Ollom and our dear Aunt Nancy of Winter Haven, Florida the cherished matriarch of the family.
Lou and David would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ALS Team at ALS United Ohio for their assistance and passion to help victims of this terrible disease and to Nurse Valery and the entire Luminary Hospice team for their care, kindness and support during Beverly’s journey. A special thank you also goes to Beverly’s caregivers Florence, Jennifer and Miriam – whose loving presence brought comfort and dignity each day.
A memorial service will be held on November 19, 2025 at 3:30pm at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. A reception will be held immediately afterwards until 7:00 p.m.

A Catholic Mass will be held on November 20, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1420 Grandview Ave., Columbus Ohio. A private burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetary Lewis Center, Ohio.
