KAYE SMITH
Wanda Kaye (Yates) Smith, 85, of St. Clairsville, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. She was born on April 2, 1940, in Webster County, Missouri, the daughter of the late Cleo Gipe and Leslie Yates.
Kaye lived a life centered on family, friendship and community. During her sons’ school years, she was active with the Red Devil Moms, supporting countless events. She was an avid bowler who bowled several times a week building lifelong friendships. She cherished the many bowling trips she took with her friends and her mother, and she found joy in traveling and exploring new places.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Smith (1991); her brothers, Leonard Yates and Dale Yates; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Yates and Regina Yates; a special nephew, Tyler Yates; and a daughter-in-law, Kristin Smith.
Kaye is survived by her sons, Lee (Kim) Smith and Dale Smith; her brother-in-law, Gene (Rose) Smith; four granddaughters, Ami (Larry) Boroski, Katie (Rich Palmer) Smith, Caroline Smith and Kelsey Smith; and two great-grandsons, Mac and Ross Boroski. She is also remembered with love by several nieces and nephews.
Per Kaye’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private service is planned. Toothman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
