RICHARD BAILEY
Richard Lee Bailey, 78, of Colerain passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 30, 1947, in Wheeling, WV the son of the late George T. and Nicolette (Orsillo) Bailey.
He was retired from Centre Foundry & Machine Company of Wheeling, where he worked in management. Richard was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Wheeling, an active member of the Martins Ferry Civics, where he coached baseball, touching many young people’s lives. He also coached softball at Martins Ferry High School. Richard was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler Fan. He was a mentor to so many young people in the valley. He also loved making children smile by surprising them at their home dressed as Santa Clause and sharing his unique Ho Ho Ho to Martins Ferry Elementary School and local organizations for many years, however, his greatest pride was his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sondra Ann Mackey.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Judith (Hildebrand) Bailey, daughter, Kimberly Anne Bailey, his grandson, Darian Charles “Zonker” Bailey, and many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Family will receive friends, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Wilson Funeral Home Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the funeral home at 10 am, with entombment to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
