DAVID CRUNELLE

David Richard Crunelle, 88, of Marietta, OH, died Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He was born on October 12, 1937 in Bellaire, OH to Andrew Crunelle and Clara Naomi Crunelle. David was a ’55 graduate of Shadyside High School, Ohio University (Bachelor’s) and West Virginia University (Master’s). David was a devoted public educator of 35 years. He taught Industrial Arts at Wheeling, then Mount Pleasant, and finally Martins Ferry high schools. In addition to being a bus driver and transportation supervisor, he served as an Assistant Principal at Martins Ferry high school for 10 years.

Hardworking by nature, David was a master carpenter. He worked not just with his hands, but also his heart, selflessly sharing his time, talents, and treasure with his community. He volunteered as a Cubmaster, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and Elder of Colerain Presbyterian Church, and was a volunteer fireman. He taught woodcarving at Colerain Senior Center and was a member of Oglebay Woodcarvers Association. He also was a member of the Colerain Ruritan and Past Master of Shadyside Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patti Thomas Crunelle; sisters Connie Coates and Joan Cook; brother John (Christine) Crunelle and sister-in-law Jo Ann Hartleben; son Trevor (Beth) Crunelle; daughter Montell (Greg) Hutchison; son Travis (or TJ); four grandchildren Holly (Troy) Francis, Tanner Crunelle, Hunter (Sophie) Hutchison, and Jolie Crunelle; and two great-grandsons Jase and Henry.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Memorial Fund of Sand Hill Methodist Church (725 Sandhill Rd, Marietta, OH) or Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio (711 E. Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH, 43205).

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, visitation will be held at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, OH., from 4-7pm with Masonic Service at 7:15pm. On Thursday, Sand Hill Methodist Church in Reno, OH will host visitation at 11am and a celebration of life at 12pm led by Pastor Jeremy Daniels. On Friday, Colerain Presbyterian Church in Colerain, OH will host visitation from 12pm-1pm. Followed by Pastor Joe Ellis joining the family in a private burial.
