JAMES BROTHERS

James Charles Brothers, Sr. 87, of Bridgeport passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Forrest Hills Nursing Home. He was born October 15, 1938, in Martins Ferry, the son of the late Charles R. and Irene R. (Miller) Brothers.

Jim retired from AT&T as an Operation Supervisor and Wilson Funeral Home, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church – Kirkwood, he served his country honorably in the United States Army. Jim developed a strong sense of duty and service by being a member of the Bridgeport Athletic Booster Club, Bridgeport Little League, a Councilman for the Village of Bridgeport, and was a Cub Scout Leader. Jim was a die-hard Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley (Brown) Brothers, twin granddaughters, Erica and Monica, siblings, Douglas F. Brothers and Harriett Dixon.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Bonnie Sue Brothers of Bridge- port, James C. (Marcia) Brothers, Jr. of Barnesville, Richard A. (Lori) Brothers of Acworth, GA, grandchildren Erin (Patrick) Bennett, Keri (Jared) Brittian, great-grandchildren, Beckham, Emerson, and Carson, and a Brother David (Sandy) Brothers of St. Clairsville, as well as many nieces and nephews complete his family.

Family and friends will be received Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, OH 43912. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11am with Rev. James Hoff and Daniel Barrett officiating, burial to follow at Weeks Cemetery in Bridge- port. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Bridgeport Athletic Boosters.
