JANET RAE GIBSON

Janet Rae (Kriechbaum) Gibson, age 94 of Powhatan Point, Ohio, passed away on January 28th, 2026.

She was born on February 9, 1931 at the family farm in Jacobsburg, Ohio. A daughter of the late Earnest and Hazel (Riley) Kriechbaum.

Janet graduated in 1949, member of the National Honor Society and a Trombone Player of Powhatan High School.

She was a dedicated member of the Powhatan United Methodist Church where she married Walter “Hoot” Gibson on June3, 1951. Hoot and Janet would be married for 36 years till his passing.

Janet’s unselfish life was centered around Family, Church and Community. Always there to volunteer, help at church dinners, singing in the Methodist Choir, Women’s Club and The Needy Cupboard.

Janet lived a full life, she was a great listener and prayerful. If Janet ever gave advice, it was never worry, Pray and live life.

Janet lived 38 years without her husband “Hoot” by her side, but continued to always cherish their great life together, especially on of their many driving vacations which took them out west through 19 states.

In addition to her Parents and Husband, she was also preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Marilyn (Gibson) Williams; Brother, Vernon Kriechbaum, Niece Jeanette, Nephew Rusty; Sisters, Nancy Moore, Lois Longstaff, Mary Helen Kramer.

She is survived by her Daughter, Carleen (Scott) Neeper; Son-in-Law, Charles Williams; Grandchildren, Kristen Williams Walton, Joshua (Holly) Neeper, Lucas Neeper, Tiffany Williams, Dana (Cody) Fuller and 4 Great Grandchildren, Maverick, Charlotte, Ryder, Frederick and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 186 Main Street Powhatan Point, Ohio on Saturday February 7, 2026 at 1 PM. Interment will follow at the Powhatan Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Powhatan Point United Methodist Church or the Powhatan Library.
