JANICE HELMS
Janice C. Helms, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 89 at Liza’s Place. Born on June 8, 1936, in Glencoe, Ohio.
As a dedicated homemaker, Janice created a warm and nurturing environment for her family. Her love and dedication were evident in every aspect of her life, from raising her children to cherishing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janice was an active member of the Shadyside Women’s Club and Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Loos; her brother, James Bulger; and her husband, Joseph Helms, who passed away in 2019.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Kelly Amato, and her husband Jim and her son, Scott Helms all of Shadyside; her four cherished grandchildren: James (Jessica), Eric (Kayla), Adam (Sara) Amato, and Karlie (Ian) Underation. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren: Gracie, Beau, Jace, Jax, Mia, Ella, Caroline, Brooks, and Cecilia.
Services were held at the convenience of the family with Janice being laid to rest surrounded by those she loved at Holly Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Valley Hospice Liza’s Place or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, reflecting Janice’s generous spirit and her wish to support those in need. The family wants to thank Valley Hospice for their care and support.
