John Wayne “Woody” Woodland passed away on January 4, 2026. He was 87 years old.
He was born on December 28, 1938, in Mt. Vernon Ohio to the late James L. and Wilma Rinehart Woodland.
Survived daughters Ann (Brian) Geniusz of Lewis Center OH, and Dr. Jennifer L.
Woodland (Jim Leinfelder) of Minneapolis MN. Two brothers Larry (Charlotte) of Union, MO; OH; Dennis (Jane) of Utica, OH; and two sisters June Wiggins of Long Beach, MS and Carol Sue Risher of Hot Springs Village, AR. Sisters-In-Law, Sister Marguerite O’Brien CSJ of Wheeling, WV and Vivian Woodland of Sheffield Lake, OH. Granddaughters, Katie and Abby Geniusz and Nora Leinfelder.
He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Woodland.
He was a 1957 graduate of Mt Vernon High School. A retired employee of NCR, Elder Beerman, and ETS Computer Systems. A member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and Auxiliary of the Congregation of St. Joseph. A Navy veteran and a Volunteer at St. Clairsville Food Pantry for over 20 years.
Friends and family will be received at Calvary Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 11:00 until 1:00. A ceremony of Christian burial will be celebrated at Calvary Presbyterian Church at 1:00 with Pastor Ian Thornton as celebrant. Followed by a luncheon at Calvary Presbyterian Church.
