NANCY MILLER
Nancy Ann Miller, 95, of Lafferty, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at Park Health Center, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Nancy was born February 8, 1930 in Fairpoint, Ohio, a daughter of the late Andrew and Frances Kupiec Smokovich.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eli Miller in 2003; a son, Eli Miller, Jr. in 1975; one brother (Walter (Irene) Smokovich) and several sisters, (Helen (Andy) Stevens, Angela Steele, Mary (Andy) Milarcik.
Nancy was a homemaker and a member of Barnesville Assumption Catholic Church and the National Polish Association.
Nancy’s passions were her family, her faith, and life on the farm. She was an avid fan of polka music. For decades, Nancy and Eli traveled to festivals and dance halls to enjoy the music and they established many lasting friendships. She also loved to read and collect historical pictures of life and times of Fairpoint and Lafferty, Ohio.
Nancy was fondly known as “Baba” to many around her and she always proudly shared her Polish Heritage over a freshly brewed pot of coffee and something to eat.
For many years the farm was associated with Miller’s Pond, a favorite swimming spot in the 70’s and 80’s. Nancy said many rosaries for everyone all the time, but especially for the safety of all the swimmers.
Surviving are her children, Suz (Ken) Pubal of Belmont, Ohio, Linda (Chris) Phillips of Fallston, Maryland and Eugene Miller of Lafferty.
Her grandchildren: Derek (Brandi Stearns) Pubal, Dr. Kalyn (Gabe) Cain, Olivia (Matthew) Kanters, and Dr. Erin Phillips, Jennifer Pubal Gardner, and Paul (Suzanne) Pubal.
