PATRICIA BARNHOUSE

Born December 17, 1955, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Patty was the daughter of the late Fred Kindberg (1964) and Ella Mae Mills-Kindberg (2010). She graduated from Buckeye South High School in 1974 and from Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1977. Patty devoted 47¢ years to nursing, serving in preoperative, intraoperative, and PACU care, and later as Director of Nursing at an outpatient surgery center, where she worked alongside her sons.

On July 1, 1978, Patty married John Douglas “Doug” Barnhouse Jr. in Tiltonsville, Ohio. They moved to Houston later that year and made their home in Katy, Texas, where they raised their family.

Patty enjoyed reading, puzzles, knitting, bingo, and spending time with family, friends, and grandchildren. She especially treasured travels to the Texas Hill Country with her husband and cherished her lifelong bond with her sisters even across state lines. Patty was a kind, caring, gentle, and loving woman who always put the needs of others first.

She is survived by her husband, John Douglas “Doug” Barnhouse Jr. of Katy, Texas, children Danny Barnhouse, Eric Barnhouse and wife Erika, and Amber Goodson and husband Dallas, grandchildren Brody, Emily, Ethan, Braylee, Emmett, Tinslee, Saydee, and Eli, sisters Barbara and Robert King, Ruth and Frank Noble, and Bobbi and James Howard and 18 nieces and nephews. Patty’s beloved dog, Coco, also survives her.

A celebration of life in the format of an Irish Wake will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Einstein’s Pub in Katy, Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in Patty’s memory.

The family thanks Patty’s hospice caregivers and Dana Dudek for their compassionate care along with all of her family and friends who continued to pray for her.
