SUZANNE MONTGOMERY

Suzanne Montgom- ery, 81, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at Belmont Manor in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

She was born October 17, 1944 in Bellaire, Ohio a daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Sammons) Tarbet.

Suzanne’s life was a testament to her passion for education, music, and her unwavering commitment to the community. She pursued higher education with determination, earning a Master’s Degree from Ohio University. Her career in teaching spanned several decades across the Bellaire, Shadyside, and Switzerland of Ohio school districts, where she touched the lives of countless students with her dedication and compassion.

Beyond her professional achievements, Suzanne was a committed member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served as the President of the Belmont County Retired Teachers Association, where she worked tirelessly to support and advocate for her fellow educators.

In her personal life, Suzanne enjoyed making music. She was a piano teacher to numerous students and played piano and organ in church. Suzanne found immense joy in being a mom, grandma, and wife to her devoted husband of 60 years, David. Her warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew her, and her legacy will be carried on through the many lives she impacted.

She is survived by her husband, David Montgomery; daughters, Stacey (David) Carlo, Denise (Emmit) Johnson; grandchildren, Emily (Seth) Rhodes, Hayley Shook, Shane (Sera) Johnson, Andrew (Courtney) Carlo, Vanessa Johnson; great-grandchildren, Noah, Sydney, Finley, Gabriel, Micah, Makenzie, Landon; brothers, Richard (Carol) Tarbet, Steven Thrash; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

As per family request, there will be no visitation.
