DENVER L. “BURP” PALMER

Denver L. Palmer, affectionately known as Burp, 83, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Liza’s Place in Wheeling.

Born on November 16, 1942, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late George O. Palmer and Elizabeth E. Brown Palmer.

Burp was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and dedicated career as a crane operator at Ormet, where he was known for his work ethic and commitment.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Denver cherished every moment spent in nature, whether it was the quiet solitude of a fishing trip or the thrill of the hunt. His love for the outdoors was a defining element of his life, providing both peace and adventure.

Burp was a member of the Moriah Masonic Lodge #105 F&AM of Powhatan Point, Ohio, where he formed lifelong friendships and contributed to the community. He also participated in the Indian Patrol and was a proud member of the Osiris Shrine, organizations through which he expressed his generosity and camaraderie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Grimes Palmer on September 19, 2014, as well as two brothers, Max and George Palmer.

Survivors include his sons, Denver Palmer Jr. of Jacobsburg and Daniel (Tricia) Palmer of Wheeling, West Virginia, and grandchildren: Kyle (Ashley) Palmer, Wesley Palmer and Colton Palmer, and one great-granddaughter Kyleeanna Palmer.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside Ohio on Tuesday February 24, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday February 25, 2026 at 11 a.m. Full military honors will be performed by the Belmont County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will immediately follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove Ohio.
