STEPHEN LAPOSKI

Stephen Laposki, 76, of Tiltonsville, OH, passed away on Wednesday February 25, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, surrounded by family. He was born on October 17, 1949, in Hamilton, OH, to the late Stephen Laposki, Sr. and Betty Shanks Barnhart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Laposki, and his uncle, Edward J. Ulczynski. Steve was a teacher and basketball coach at Union Local High School for 30 years. In 2019, he was inducted into the Union Local District 12 Basketball Hall of Fame. After retirement, he coached at Wheeling Jesuit University, Franciscan University, and in Venice, Florida, until returning to Tiltonsville, where he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the Indian Club. Steve was an avid fan of the Steelers, Pirates, UConn Women’s Basketball, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and Ohio University Bobcats. He received a BS in Education from Ohio University and continued to cultivate the friendships and connections he made there throughout his entire life. He went on to further his education, receiving a Master's degree in Education from the University of Dayton. In his retirement, Steve developed a love of traveling and cruising, taking nearly 70 voyages all over the world with his greatest love, Kathy. Steve is survived by his beloved, Kathryn Snodgrass; two sisters, Debbie (Richard) Smith and Sandra Love; Aunt Mary Laposki Ulczynski; Uncle Edward (Sue) Laposki; three “sister”-cousins, Mary Beth (Bo) Panepucci, Hope Spangler (Tim Jarvis), and Heather (Ed) Tausel; children, Cristin (Adam) Fuller and Samuel (Abby) Snodgrass; four grandchildren, Elliot, Annora, Fletcher, and Sullivan, and several nephews and cousins. Friends will be received to pay tribute to Steve and celebrate his life on Friday, March 6th, from 4-8 pm, at the Borkoski Funeral Home in Tiltonsville, OH. There will be a vigil service at 5 pm, with Father William Cross.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Saturday March 7th, 11 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiltonsville, OH.
