CHARLES ‘RONNIE’ BROWN
Charles Brown
Charles R. Brown (Ronnie), 87, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at UAB Hospital while living with his daughter and son-in- law in Bessemer, Alabama.
Born on November 6, 1938, in Bellaire, Ohio, he was the son of the late David W. and Anna L. Smith Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. Brown, Jr. (Chuckie) and two grandsons, John David Meeboer (JD) and William Wesley Miller (Billy).
He is survived by three children, Collene (Johnny) Devine of Bessemer, Alabama, Rick (Trudie) Brown of Jackson, Ohio and Ronnet (John) Meeboer of Topeka, Kansas; four grandchildren, Michelle (Chris) Miller-Ice of Barnesville, Ohio, Justin (Haruna) Brown of Shadyside, Ohio, Erika (Joseph) Hicks of Brilliant, Ohio and Julia (Jack) Nunn of Topeka, Kansas; Eight great-grandchildren, Kohl Campbell, William Miller, Easton Little, Wesley Miller, Ariahna Mills, Lorenzo Thomas, Anna Brown and Niko Brown. In addition, he had Arlene (Smith) Kuca of Moundsville, W.Va. as his honorary sister and step-grand- children, Hunter Devine, Jon Ferris and Josh Ferris.
Ronnie graduated from Powhatan High School where he was a drummer in the high school band. During his professional career, he served in the US Army, owned Powhatan Tire and retired, after 30 years, from CSX railroad as a yardmaster. After retirement, he obtained his CDL license and drove long-haul trucking. Beyond his professional career, he was devoted to his faith, a member of the Church of Christ. His passions were music and flight; he earned his private pilots license and played the piano since he was five.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:00 at the Masonic lodge 153 Main St. Powhatan. Ohio
