JOSEPH PAYTASH
Joseph Kevin Paytash, 71, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away on April 4, 2026.
He was born on October 9, 1954, in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Joe had a deep appreciation for art, music, and culture. He enjoyed creating his own paintings and sculptures, as well as spending time at art museums admiring the work of others. A gifted musician, he also played the organ in church in his younger years. He loved nature, especially spending time walking in local parks, and had a special love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Isabella, who was an important companion in his life.
Joe also gave his time in service to others, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and other community organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Paytash, Jr. and Norma (Calovini) Paytash, and his sister, Nadine Greenwood.
He is survived by his niece and nephews, Katrina (Chuck) Woodford, Corey Greenwood, and Tyler (Christie) Greenwood; his brother-in-law, Larry Greenwood; and his extended family of cousins, especially Kathy Berus, who was particularly close to him.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling, West Virginia, with Fr. John Soplinski as celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lafferty, Ohio
