JAMES McFARLAND
James P. McFarland, 89 of Martins Ferry passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He was born on August 12, 1936, in Martins Ferry, the son of the late John L. and Beatrice (Kinney) McFarland.
Jim retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Martins Ferry. He was in the first graduating class of St. John’s Central High School in Bellaire, and was a veteran of US Marine Corp. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael J. McFarland, brothers, Thomas J., Richard A., C. William, and Robert K. McFarland.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Betty (Gramatikos) McFarland, his son, Jim (April) McFarland, grandchildren, Matthew, Kelsey, Kara, and Haley McFarland, great- granddaughter, Lillian McFarland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Monday, May 11, 2026, from 11 am until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 12:30 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, Oh 43935, with Fr. Thomas Marut officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ferryview Rd.
