Patricia McKeen

Patricia Catherine McKeen, 90 of Bethany, WV, died on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Liza’s Place. She was born on March 17, 1936 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Harold T. Serig (d. 1952) and Gertrude L. Foran Serig Bartollas, and stepdaughter of James A. Bartollas.

Patricia (Pat) was Catholic by faith and a graduate of Saint Joseph’s Academy Class of 1954. Pat met her future husband, W. James (Jim) McKeen during her senior year in high school.

Jim and Pat were married at Our Lady of Seven Dolors July 3, 1957. In 1967, Pat and Jim moved their family to a 110 acre farm near Bethany, WV, and started a dairy farm a few years later. Pat helped on the farm, raised her kids, gardened and canned. Pat had served as a Home Room Mother at Bethany School, was later a 4-H Club Leader and became a WV 4-H All Star. She had worked at the Brooke County 4-H Extension Office and at Wilkins Flower Shop in Wellsburg. In retirement Pat enjoyed time with her grandchildren, genealogy and her life on the farm.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband W. James (Jim) McKeen, a son Philip L. McKeen; son-in-law Richard A. Warmuth, Jr; sister, Mary Anne Roth; grandson James (Jimmy) Logan Barnes; and step-father James A. Bartollas.

Surviving are her children, daughter, Debra A. McKeen Warmuth of Wheeling; sons, Warren J. McKeen (Anne) of Harrisonburg, VA; Russell J. McKeen (Missy) of Lost Creek, WV; five grandchildren, Benjamin R. McKeen (Aurora), Emma K. McKeen, Annie L. McKeen, Davis A. Warmuth (Sabrina), and Aaron Wilt; sister in-law, Sandra Porter and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elmhurst and Liza’s Place and in addition, very special friends and companions Cindy Barone, Shelly Bailer and BJ Olson for their care and support of Pat.

Visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove from 2pm to 8pm with Rosary Service at 7:30pm on Thursday, May 28 and a joint Mass of Christian burial for both Pat and Jim will be conducted at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church at 11am on Friday, May 29 and interment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
