DONALD BERNOSKY
Donald Bernosky
Donald Louis Bernosky, age 83 of Adena, passed away May 29, 2026, at his home.
He was born May 18, 1943, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to parents Walter and Mary (Barabasz) Bernosky. Don graduated from Adena High School in 1961. Shortly after, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. When his military service was completed, Don joined the Adena American Legion Post 525 and has been a member for over 60 years.
Don was Catholic in faith and a member of St. Casimir Parish. He was a coal miner with Consol and retired as a foreman on the Silver Spade. Don loved being outside, especially when operating heavy machinery. He enjoyed being on the backhoe or excavator, shaping both of his daughter’s properties, as well as many others in the area.
In his younger years, Don loved playing softball. His love for sports shifted to watching his grandchildren play sports. You could often find him watching a ball game at the Maynard fields, and he rarely missed a Cleveland Guardians game.
Don is survived by his beloved wife Janice (Brokaw) Bernosky, who he married August 31, 1970. He is also survived by his daughters Dana Banal and Erin (David Jr.) Rinkes, his grandchildren: Eric Banal, Katherine “Katie” Banal, Evan Krupinski, and Jacob Rinkes, as well as his sister Joyce George, and his brothers Jack (Anne) Bernosky and Dave Bernosky.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Adele Ziaja, and his brother Ed Bernosky.
