SHIRLEY BEDNARSKI
SHIRLEY BEDNARSKI
Shirley Ann Bednarski, age 86 of Adena, passed away peacefully at her home on June 23, 2026. Born on May 22, 1940, in Kenwood, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Ann (Kokovich) Kobus.
A proud graduate of Adena High School, Shirley went on to build a dedicated career, eventually retiring from the Peoples National Bank in Mt. Pleasant, where she was a familiar face to many in the community for years. Her faith and community were central to her life; she was a devoted, longtime member of St. Casimir Parish, the Rosary Society, and the Adena Lions Club.
Shirley lived life with a vibrant, independent spirit and loved to have fun. She had a passion for the excitement of traveling to new places, hitting the dance floor whenever she got the chance, and finding the perfect treasures on her shopping trips. Many of her happiest moments were spent with her dear best friend, Nancy Malin, with whom she loved going out to dinner, sharing adventures, and enjoying life to the fullest.
Above all, Shirley cherished being with her family. She loved her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she took immense pride in her grandchildren, who brought so much joy to her life.
Her memory will be forever treasured by her children, Renee Fithen and Troy (Doris) Bednarski; her five grandchildren; her four great-grand-chil- dren; and her brother, John Kobus, Jr.
Shirley was reunited in eternal rest with her parents; her husband, Randy Bednarski; and her sisters, Nancy Smith and Jean Plewniak.
Friends and family will be received Monday, June 29, 2026, from 3-6 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home in Adena. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be concelebrated by Reverend William Cross and Reverend Chester Pabin on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Adena. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregivers, Vickie Elerick and Rose Wright, for their exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirley’s memory to the St. Casimir Msgr. Kolesar Memorial Fund, 221 Hanna Ave, Adena, OH 43901. Condolences and fond memories may be shared online at www.borkoskifuneral. com
