Gary Allen Pugh, 75, of Martins Ferry passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 5, 1950, in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of the late Creed L. and Hilda M. (Saffell) Pugh.
Gary was a Lutheran by faith and a retired 41-year employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Martins Ferry Plant. A graduate of Martins Ferry High School class of 1969. He was a member of the American Legion and Polish Club of Martins Ferry. Gary was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes, he enjoyed all sporting events, as well as loved to watch black and white western movies. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother- in-law, uncle and friend to all knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Rose Marie one year ago to the date.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters Tonya Knox, Sherry (Scott) Grimes, and Kari (fiance, Michael McWhorter) Pugh, his grandchildren Briona (fiance, Billy Henderson), and Braelyn Knox, Logan Pugh, and Jace McWhorten; a brother, Randy (late Pam) Pugh; a sister, Deanna (late Mike) Sall; also, tons of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home-Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry on Tuesday, June 21, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Nathan McKeen, interment in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove.
