Janice Marie Seidel Whorton, 72, of Shadyside Ohio passed away on July 22, 2026, at WVU Medicine- Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Born on March 3, 1954, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Robert Louis Seidel Sr. and Betty Smith Seidel.
Janice earned her MBA from Wheeling Jesuit College before joining The Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley. She spent many years there as an Accounts Manager in the marketing department until her retirement.
Janice found joy in gardening, nurturing her plants with care and attention. She also cherished the companionship of her beloved dog, Holly, with whom she spent countless happy hours. Additionally, she enjoyed cooking and reading.
Janice was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio. Her life was deeply grounded in her strong beliefs, community connections, and she was guided by faith.
Survivors include her son Brian Whorton of Shadyside, sister Mary Ellen Magyar, brother Bobby Seidel Jr, nieces and nephew; Melissa, Justin, and Heather as well as an aunt Nancy Green.
Janice was very much loved and will be sadly missed.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. at Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside Ohio 43947. Funeral Liturgy with mass will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church on Tuesday July 28, 2026 at 11 a.m. with Father Daniel Heusel as celebrant. Interment will follow in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.
